HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- More than 10,000 Dominion Virginia Power customers remained without power Monday morning, more than three days after a powerful storm knocked out electricity to more than 250,000 Dominion customers in Central Virginia.

The majority of the remaining outages were located in Henrico County.

"Despite our best efforts, there are some customers that will remain without power until Monday night. These customers are in Lakeside, Dumbarton, East Highland Park, Tuckahoe and Richmond Northside," a Dominion spokesperson said. "In the course of our work yesterday, we discovered additional damage that was not visible when we did our original assessments. Crews must work an additional 680 locations before all customers are restored."

Dominion said it was moving crews that finished work elsewhere into hardest hit neighborhoods to help speed up restoration.

‘I’m living in this nightmare again’

Henrico resident Patricia Spivey said Sunday she got the feeling her power would not be restored until Monday.

"I’m living in this nightmare again," she said. "I’m feeling depressed."

Spivey lives off Parham Road, near Tucker High School.

"This neighborhood has a lot of elderly people. I know my neighbor has had to move her husband because he's on oxygen," she said. "You have people over here who are on fixed incomes, so not only are they losing their food, they have to also spend that extra money to go [to eat]."

"We know it has been difficult for customers who have been without power since the storm made impact on Thursday night. We appreciate their patience and we want them to know that we remain dedicated to getting every last customer restored safely," the Dominion spokesperson added.
