HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- When Henrico County closed schools Friday due to massive power outages following Thursday night's storm -- it meant summer break came early for students. Friday was to be the county's last day of school.

Since Friday's school day never happened, things like final exams, grades, report cards, teacher checkout, laptop returns, and picking up school medication and belongings still need to be addressed.

Officials announced thefollowing details late Friday:

All community activities at all Henrico County Public Schools are being cancelled for Saturday, June 18, and Sunday, June 19. We apologize for this inconvenience.

As for next week, there will be no mandatory “make up day”. We’re providing multiple options over the next two weeks for students and families to take care of the things that ordinarily would have happened this morning.

Beginning Monday, June 20, schools will operate on “Summer Hours” which are Monday-Thursday, 7:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Schools will be closed on Fridays.

Students/families will have the opportunity to come to the school and retrieve any personal belongings.

Medications will be held until June 30. Only a parent/guardian may pick up medications. We will dispose of any medications not picked up by June 30.

More than 30 of Henrico's 72 schools and program centers lost power due to the storm.
