RICHMOND, Va. — Richmond’s North Side area and Henrico’s Lakeside community were hit hard in Thursday’s storm. Bryan Park, nestled right in between both communities, is currently closed.

Massive trees fell across roadways and knocked out powerlines in the park.

The 262-acre park also has numerous trashcans located throughout it that were mostly full and the storm caused trash to spill out.

Richmond Parks and Recreations is currently evaluating the damage at its local parks and will announce their plans moving forward.

The Richmond Vegetarian Festival is scheduled to be held at Bryan Park June 25. The festival has been held there annually for over a decade.

CBS 6 reached out to friends of Bryan Park to see if a cleanup is planned. It is likely help will be needed.
