CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Virginia has given an all clear after a gunman was reported near the campus in the Gordon Avenue area.
“Reported gunman threat ended. Please avoid Gordon Ave. as area is under investigation,” the school wrote in an alert.
The school’s Office of Safety and Emergency Preparedness sent the alert warning students to “please avoid the area.”

The school has not released any additional information at this time.
Tuesdays alert comes after a similar incident on March 30, near Gordon Ave and Venable Elementary School.
A staff member at the school reported seeing a man carrying what appeared to be a shotgun. No one was hurt during the incident.
Police said they would increase patrols around the school.
