HOPEWELL, Va. – Police are searching for three armed suspects who were involved in the shooting of a pedestrian in Hopewell Monday afternoon.

Officers responded to the intersection of Highland Ave. and Chestnut St. for a report of multiple shots being fired at approximately 2:41 p.m. Monday.

Police said shortly after they arrived on the scene, a man with a gunshot wound was reportedly dropped off at John Randolph Medical Center for medical treatment.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the shooting victim was traveling through the intersection on foot when three armed suspects who had exited a vehicle began to shoot at him.

The suspect suffered a single gunshot wound to the lower body while fleeing the scene. His injuries are considered non-life threatening.

Witnesses said the suspects were seen leaving the area in a white Lincoln 4-door style sedan.

The Hopewell Police Department continues to investigate this matter and is requesting that the unidentified “Good Samaritan” that transported the victim to the hospital contact Detective Mike Parsio of the Criminal Investigations Unit at 804-541-2284 as he may hold information critical to the investigation.

Police also ask anyone who may have been traveling in and around the area at the time of this incident and observed anything suspicious to contact the Hopewell Police Department or the Hopewell/Prince George Crime Solvers at 804-541-2202.
