HOPEWELL, Va. — A partially blind dog is safe Monday after falling nearly 30 feet down an embankment near a Hopewell river Sunday.
The Hopewell Bureau of Fire posted detailed about the dog rescue on their Facebook page Sunday.
The 14 year old dog was out with his owner Sunday evening when he fell 25 to 30 feet down an embankment next to a river.
Hopewell Animal Control Officer Amanda Sverchek first responded to the scene and requested help from Hopewell Fire Department to assist with the rescue.
After setting up some lines and repelling down to get the dog, he was safely rescued.
“It goes to prove the great teamwork between Hopewell Animal Control, Hopewell Fire, and Hopewell Police always exist,” Hopewell Fire said in the Facebook post.
Hopewell Fire reported the owner sent Animal Control a thank you note that read:
“SO thankful to you and the firefighters!!! I just gave my little guy a bath. Cannot believe he is in good shape. YOU made all of this happen. Forever grateful!!!!”
