25-year-old woman killed in South Richmond motel shooting

RICHMOND, Va. -- Police have identified the woman who died after a shooting inside a motel room at the Midlothian Inn in South Richmond Friday night.

Police said the shooting happened around  9:45 p.m. When officers arrived on the scene they found 25-year-old Paige E. Johnson dead from a gunshot wound at the motel, located at 6523 Midlothian Turnpike.

Police said it appears the shooter shot from outside the motel room.

Police have not released any additional information about a possible suspect at this time but say that detectives have developed strong leads in the case. They are reviewing surveillance videos and interviewing people who were in the area at the time of the shooting.
