RICHMOND, Va. -- The Richmond Division of the FBI is looking for new tips to solve a cold case from 1996.

Exactly 20 year ago Wednesday, the bodies of Julianne Williams and Laura Winans were discovered at their campsite near Skyland resort in Shenandoah National Park.

Williams, Winans, and their golden retriever Taj, were last seen hiking on May 24, 1996. Taj was later found wandering in the park, and the bodies of both women were discovered on June 1, 2016.

In 2002, Darrell Rice was charged with the murders, but those charges were later dropped, when investigators obtained evidence they said could cast doubt on the case against Rice.

No one else has ever been arrested in the case.

The FBI says their investigation is active and ongoing as they've generated updated posters seeking information concerning the double murder. Investigators ask to public to share the new posters in an effort to bring national attention to the investigation.

If you have information concerning this investigation, contact the Richmond FBI field office at 804/261-1044 or via https://tips.fbi.gov.
