Richmond officer hit from behind, injured while responding to accident

RICHMOND, Va. -- A Richmond Police officer has been released from the hospital after a crash Thursday night on the Powhite Parkway.

It happened just before 11 p.m., near the Douglasdale Road exit.

Police tell us the female officer was working an accident at the time.

She was sitting in the passenger seat of a cruiser when another car hit it from behind.

The officer suffered minor injuries. She was treated and released.

Police said the driver responsible was charged, but didn’t explain the exact charge.
