Kate Upton shows off ring, confirms engagement to Justin Verlander

NEW YORK — Supermodel Kate Upton showed off her new engagement ring during an event Monday night at Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Upton later told E! News she and longtime boyfriend Justin Verlander planned to get married.

“I’m really excited. He asked me right before the season started so we’ve been keeping it on the down low for quite a while,” she told E! News. “So I’m excited to finally be able to share it with the world!”

Verlander, a 33-year-old pitcher for the Detroit Tigers, grew up in Goochland County and played college baseball at Old Dominion University.

He and Upton, 23, have been spotted around Richmond when Verlander returns to the area to visit family.

Upton turned heads while shopping at Stony Point Fashion Park after Thanksgiving in 2014. Upton and Verlander were also seen working out at American Family Fitness during their trip home.

A wedding date has not yet been announced.
