HENRICO COUNTY, Va. – Police are investigating a homicide after a man was found shot to death in eastern Henrico County.

It happened around 8:30 Friday night in the 1100 block of Old Williamsburg Road in Sandston not far from the Richmond International Airport.

Police sources said officers discovered a man shot to death in a car in the driveway of a home.

A family member confirmed to CBS 6’s Brendan King that 35-year-old Shaun Johnson was the victim. Johnson’s cousin said he is a father to several young children and that “he was always smiling"

"He didn’t bother anybody," she said.

Neighbors described hearing five or six gunshots. They said Johnson was visiting a friend who lives at the home and children were inside at the time of the shooting.

“We heard gunshots and as soon as we heard them I told the kids to get down cause we didn’t know what was going on,” Marjorie Brittain said.

Those who live nearby said there has been an increase in traffic at the home in the past few days.

“There’s been a lot of activity going on this street and the neighbors have noticed a downfall with people coming in and out,” one neighbor said. “This crime is not really surprising.”

Police said they have not made an arrest in the shooting.
