CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — A man wearing a mask robbed a busy grocery store and apparently got away with it, but Chesterfield Police hope that will change, after you take a look at some new pictures.

Police believe the man, armed with a note, pulled off one robbery at a Food Lion off Woodpecker Road last Sunday and attempted another at a nearby Burger King.

“I attempted to come out of the building to see where he went,” said Terrell Davis , who thinks the man police are looking for was very nervous. He says the suspect passed a note to a cashier at the Burger King, but he wasn’t successful. “It’s a rural area, one stoplight, country roads.”

“He took his note back with him,” said Davis. “He’s not educated, because his handwriting looked like it came from a kindergartner.”

Sources tell WTVR CBS 6 that earlier, at the Food Lion, the suspect actually came back into the store after he robbed it to get his note back at least twice before running outside.

“I was like, ‘why is he running like that? Why is he dressed like that?’” said one witness, who wanted us to hide her identity. She provided police a description of the suspect, whom she saw running towards VSU’s off-campus apartments.

“He had on camo pants, a trench coat jacket and a mask over his face,” she said.

Friday, Chesterfield Police released clearer image of the suspect.

People that live in the area said the gate in the background looks like the suspect is walking from the apartments.

Police described the suspect as a black male around 5 feet 5 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a white mask as well as  black hoodie and black and white camo-style pants.
