CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. -- Dive teams have recovered the bodies of a young child and his grandfather after their boat overturned on a private pond Saturday night in Caroline County.

Sheriff Tony Lippa from the Caroline County Sheriff's Office said the body of 4-year-old Jalen E. Stewart was found around 12:15 a.m. Sunday. After resuming the search at 8 a.m. Sunday morning, dive teams recovered the body of Stewart's grandfather, 73-year-old Alvin "Boone" Clark, at 11:15 a.m.

Both of their remains are being taken to the Medical Examiner to determine the causes of their deaths.

The search happened off at a private pond off Sparta Road a few miles from Bowling Green.

The Caroline County Sheriff's Office along with Fire Rescue and EMS were assisted in the search by the Spotsylvania and Stafford County Sheriff's Offices, the Virginia State Police Dive Team, a Med Flight unit and the State Conservation Police.

Investigators said Clark and Stewart were supposed to be fishing, but that their boat was found capsized.

The Caroline County Sheriff's Office is asking that you keep the family of Alvin "Boone" Clark and Jalen Stewart in your thoughts and prayers.
