Powhatan woman killed in Route 60 crash

POWHATAN COUNTY , Va. -- Virginia State Police have identified the victim in a fatal single-vehicle crash in Powhatan County Tuesday night.

The driver has been identified as Deborah C. Brady, 64 of Powhatan County.

Police said the accident occurred around 8:30 p.m. at Route 60 (Anderson Highway) and Judes Ferry Road, right outside Powhatan High School. Police said Brady drove off the road and struck an embankment.

"The troopers investigation revealed that a 2005 Honda Accord was traveling south on Judes Ferry Road when it went thru a red light, crossed both the east and west bound lanes of Route 60 and struck the embankment," Virginia State Police said in a press release.

Brady was the sole occupant of the vehicle and died at the scene. She was not wearing a seatbelt.

Speed and alcohol are not considered factors in the crash, which remained under investigation.
