Police ID motorcyclist killed outside Colonial Heights Walmart

COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. — Police have identified the person who was killed in a crash near the intersection of Charles Dimmock Parkway and Southpark Boulevard in Colonial Heights Sunday night as Joseph B. Gupton, Jr. of Hopewell.

“Police were dispatched to Charles Dimmock Parkway at the entrance to Walmart in reference to an accident involving a motorcycle and pickup truck. EMS personnel arrived on scene a short time later and determined that the driver of the motorcycle was deceased,” a Colonial Heights police spokesman said. “The body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Richmond for examination. This investigation is still ongoing.”
