ORANGE COUNTY, Va. -- The woman accused of mistreating more than 100 animals on her Orange County farm is now facing embezzlement charges.

Ann Goland, who is also known as Ann Shumate Williams, was indicted on 13 counts of embezzlement Monday.

The sheriff's office said those charges stem from the animal cruelty case at Peaceable Farm.

She was charged with 27 counts of cruelty after her Orange County farm was raided by animal control specialists in October.

Investigators found horses, cats and dogs in such poor health that many of the animals had to be killed.

Goland, who was arrested and taken into custody Wednesday in Culpeper County, is being held without bail at the Central Va. Regional Jail.
