RICHMOND, Va. — Baby food maker Gerber has announced a voluntary recall of some of its organic products.
“As a result of a packaging defect, some of the packaging used in two batches of GERBER® Organic 2ND FOODS® Pouches – Pears, Carrots & Peas and two batches of GERBER® Organic 2ND FOODS® Pouches – Carrots, Apples & Mangoes with best by dates of July 12, 2016, July 13, 2016, July 14, 2016, may be susceptible to spoilage during transport and handling,” the company posted online. “As a result you may notice that, in some cases, those pouches are bloated or product inside may have an off taste or odor. We are proactively working to retrieve all remaining pouches of the affected batches that fail to meet our quality standards.”
“We have chosen to voluntarily remove all the pouches in question from our retail and on-line stores,” the company’s statement continued. “If you do have any of these pouches, we recommend that you do not use them and that you contact the Gerber Parents Resource Center at 1-800-706-0556 for replacement coupons anytime day or night.”
