RICHMOND, Va. — Béla Fleck & the Flecktones are coming to town. The Grammy Award-winning band, which blends bluegrass, jazz and funk will perform Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. at Maymont.
In addition to banjo virtuoso Béla Fleck, the band features original Flecktones pianist/harmonica player Howard Levy, bassist Victor Wooten, and percussionist/ Drumitarist Roy “Futureman” Wooten.
“I didn’t want to just get together to play the old music,” Fleck said. “That’s not what the Flecktones are about. Everybody’s full of life and ideas and creativity. I was intrigued by what we could do that we had never done before together.”
