CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — Police charged a Chesterfield man with attempting to abduct a woman at an extended-stay motel off Huguenot Road. Police were called to the InTown Suites, at 11551 Green Spring Road, at about 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

“The suspect approached the victim in the hall and, after a brief conversation, began to help her look for a luggage cart,” a Chesterfield Police spokesperson said. “They could not find the cart, so the victim returned to her room; the suspect followed. When the victim went to enter her room, the suspect forced her inside and tried to block the door, but the victim was able to escape and call for help.”

Officers later arrested Andre L. Harris, 38, who was staying at the InTown Suites. Investigators said Harris and the woman did not know each other.
