COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. -- Investigators are looking for at least one thief caught on camera, taking electronics and even toilet paper for a Colonial Heights woman apartment.

"The time stamp says 8:14pm," said Sade Smith, the woman whose apartment was broken into.

That's when video uploaded to the cloud from a home security camera, captures a man in her son's bedroom, trying to pull the flat screen television off the wall.

"It's scary" said Smith who for the past three years has lived at the apartment complex with her three-year-old son and considered the neighborhood quiet and safe.

The pair went on vacation in early March and returned home to a ransacked house with three televisions missing along with most of their electronics.

But, while the would be thieves grabbed the two cameras they couldn't touch the cloud.

Smith quickly went online and saw a man she had never seen inside her son's bedroom at 8:14pm March 10. She said police are still trying to figure out how the man got inside the apartment but the back door was open when Smith arrived home a few days later.

Smith speculates the thief came in through the kitchen window.

The camera also captures audio which is why Smith believes there was more than one person in the apartment.

"What I'm hearing is my dresser drawers in my room, opening and closing, people rummaging through my closet," she said.

Colonial Heights Police walked through the apartment complex and the neighborhood behind it.

"The detectives were canvassing the neighborhood, they had a picture of a man inside a house, with a TV and they were saying someone's home had been broken into, they were asking had anybody seen this guy in the neighborhood." said Tammy Garrison, who lives nearby.

Besides the electronics, the thief apparently grabbed toilet paper, paper plates and paper towels that Smith had in her kitchen.

"TV's yes, understandable but who takes toilet paper," asked Garrison.

Police ask if you have any information about this break in to call Crime Solvers at 804-748-0660.
