HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — State police have identified the driver killed in a fatal single-vehicle accident that slowed traffic on I-64 in Henrico County Saturday night.

Police say 24-year-old Shana R. Braxton was traveling east in her 2001 Pontiac Sunfire when it ran off the right side of the road and slammed into a tree.

Braxton died at the scene. Police say she was wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash.

Sgt. Steve Vick with Virginia State Police said the wreck happened around 9:15 p.m. on I-64 east near the Laburnum Avenue exit.

VDOT reported the wreck closed the interstate’s right and center lanes.

Speed is being considered as a factor in the crash, but the cause is still being investigated.
