Baby Brendon’s parents arrested for murder

RICHMOND, Va. -- Nearly six months after his September 12 death, the parents of Brendon Newton were arrested by Richmond Police. Newton, who was less than 12 months old when he died, was found unresponsive in a RV parked along the 1800 block of Jefferson Davis Highway. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

"Sabrina A. Malick, 29, of the 7800 block of Wistar Village Drive, in Henrico and Walter E. Newton, 46, of the 4800 block of Caldwell Avenue, in Richmond, have been charged with Second Degree Murder and Felony Child Neglect," Richmond Police spokesman Gene Lepley said. "They were arrested Wednesday, March 9."

Police did not release information about the evidence that lead to their arrests. Baby Brendon’s death will be recorded as the 41st homicide of 2015.
