VCU gets a share of A-10 Title

Last weekend of the regular season in College Basketball and conference titles were up for grabs.  In the A-10, Dayton beat VCU 68-67 in overtime and gained a three-way share of the crown with the Rams and St. Bonaventure.  The Flyers clinched the top seed with the win.  VCU will be the #2 seed in the conference tournament in Brooklyn.

The Richmond Spiders have lost two straight and five of six after a 83-73 defeat at George Mason.  The Patriots swept the season series after scoring 54 points in the 2nd half.

In the ACC, the Virginia Cavaliers got the 2nd seed for their conference tournament in Washington D.C. after a 68-46 win over Louisville on Senior Night.

Virginia Tech upset 7th ranked Miami 77-62 and they will be the 6th seed for the ACC tournament.

William & Mary advanced to the CAA Semifinals for the 2nd straight after they beat JMU 79-64.

In the A-10 Women's tournament at the Richmond Coliseum, VCU's run ended by the top seed George Washington 72-58.

High School Basketball are now in the State Semifinals after Saturday.  Hopewell advanced to the 3A States semis for the 2nd year in a row after a 65-42 win over Cave Springs.

In another 3A State quarterfinal, John Marshalll beat Spotswood  61-53.

In the 4A Girls State quarterfinals, Huguenot lost to William Fleming 69-44.

Also, Appomattox Regional Governor's School advanced to the 1A State semis after they beat Burton 57-21.

And in the VISAA Div. III State Girls Final, Richmond Christian lost to Carlisle 58-44.
