CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — A teacher’s aide at Manchester Middle School was charged with assaulting a student at the Chesterfield middle school. Kevin C. Brown, 48, was charged with misdemeanor assault following the February 26 incident.

“Brown was attempting to restrain a 13-year-old male student when he used unauthorized restraint techniques,” a Chesterfield Police spokeswoman said. “Brown held the student against a desk and held him on the floor. The student received minor injuries.”

Brown was arrested Monday without incident.

Chesterfield Police have not commented on why Brown felt the need to restrain the student.

“This is a very serious charge and the employee has been removed from the school,” Chesterfield Schools spokesman Shawn Smith said. “The employee will not return to the school pending the disposition of the charges and the administrative process.”
