Javon Moore and Kevin Williams combined to score 54 points as Virginia State beat Livingstone 89-79 for their first CIAA Championship since 1988. The Trojans used a 12-0 run to start the second half which proved to be the difference as they ended the Blue Bears two-year reign as conference champs.
Moore scored 16 of his game high 30 points in the second half while Williams had 19 of his 24 after intermission. Moore was name the game's MVP and Williams was named Tournament Most Valuable Player. They along with Elijah Moore were on the All-Tournament team.
