BRUNSWICK COUNTY, Va. — The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a bomb threat at a Lawrenceville Elementary school Monday. Investigators said the threat was written in a bathroom at Meherrin Powellton Elementary.

Deputies said they received notification of the threat from school administration at 11:30 a.m.

Students evacuated the school, while deputies and Virginia State Police conducted a investigation inside the school with K-9s.  Deputies said the school was cleared after a few hours.

Kids returned inside the school building around 2 p.m.

Investigators said they are pretty confident that the threat was done by a student. They said they are currently working on the criminal investigation into the matter.
