CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Chesterfield County and school leaders are planning renovations 10 county schools in need of improvements. Among the schools in need of those repairs is Providence Middle School. County leaders plan to spend about $25 million over the next three years in renovations.
Among the plans:
- Construction of an enclosed courtyard
- New restrooms
- Added handicap ramps.
By the time the renovations are done, the school's capacity will increase to over 1,100 students.
The plans extend beyond the school's fences, though: there are also plans to repave nearby roads, and building sidewalks for children to walk to school. The plans for Providence Middle will be discussed at a public meeting Wednesday night in the school's auditorium at 6 p.m.
The renovations are part of a $304 million initiative to improve school buildings in the county. The project was approved by voters in 2013.

- Providence Middle
- Beulah Elementary
- Crestwood Elementary
- Enon Elementary
- Ettrick Elementary
- Harrowgate Elementary
- Matoaca Elementary
- Reams Elementary
