NEW ORLEANS — A massive six-alarm fire burned in the heart of New Orleans early Wednesday, just outside the French Quarter on Canal Street, authorities said. Smoke billowed from the roof of a building in the 1000 block of Canal Street.
Fire officials say the fire is under investigation, but the cause is not suspicious. Only one person is known to have been in the building when the fire was called in around 3:24 a.m. CT.
