CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — Charles Halderman, 30, agreed to plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to affect commerce by robbery. Halderman was one of three men arrested last year after the FBI said it foiled a local plot to shoot up and bomb synagogues and black churches. Halderman faces up to 20 years in prison and up to a $250,000 fine when he is sentenced in April.
Haderman, who had a history of violent crimes, convictions on drug-related charges, previous substance-abuse and an association with the Aryan Brotherhood white-supremacist group, was charged for his role in conspiring to rob a Richmond area jeweler.
Prosecutors alleged Halderman, Robert Doyle of Chesterfield County and Ronald Chaney of Henrico planned to use the stolen money to buy and stockpile weapons. The money would also be used to buy land that would be used to train for a race war they hoped to inspire.
Doyle and Chaney are due in court for trial in March.
