State Trooper injured after vehicle was struck on I-64

NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. — A Virginia State Police Trooper suffered minor injuries Friday evening after his vehicle was struck on I-64.

Police said the incident happened at 7:36 p.m. at mile marker 212 in New Kent County.

The trooper was stopped with a disabled vehicle in the westbound lanes when another vehicle ran into the back of the patrol car. The patrol car’s lights were activated at the time of the crash.

Trooper M.D. Jester is currently being treated at VCU Medical Center for minor injuries.

Virginia State Police said their troopers were very busy Friday, responding to 989 traffic crashes and another 793 disabled vehicles across the state between midnight and 10 p.m.
