RICHMOND, Va. — A strong winter storm is spreading sleet and snow into the area Friday into Saturday.  Precipitation will be in the form of snow as temperatures will stay in the 20s to around 30° into the afternoon.  Accumulations of at least a few inches will occur by evening.

Here’s an updated hour-by-hour timeline of the storm as of 11 a.m. Friday:

On Saturday, colder air will sweep across the area from west to east.  Snow will continue west of Richmond, and any rain or mix in the metro will change back to snow.  Areas far southeast of Richmond will see any rain transition to a mix and then snow.  It will be windy with gusts over 30 mph and some 50 mph gusts possible, especially near the coast.  Click here for more on the storm.
