RICHMOND, Va -- Fire crews were on the scene of a two-alarm fire in Richmond's Museum District Wednesday morning. The fire broke out at around 4:43 a.m. in the 3500 block of Park Avenue. It took fire crews about 45 minutes to get the fire under control. At 6 a.m. though, the fire was upgraded to two alarms after crews found more fire burning in the home's basement.

Additional crews were being called to the scene.

"I woke up, looked out the window, and saw flames," Alex Copeland, who lived in the building, said. "I called 911 and threw water on the stairs, so the girls above me could get out in case that's the way they came out."

The fire displaced at least one family. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters were still on scene at 6:30 Wednesday morning. There was no immediate word on what caused the fire.
