HANOVER COUNTY, Va. — Four men were arrested for stealing thousands of pieces of mail from the Hanover County Air Park. The mail was taken the night of January 14, a Hanover Sheriff’s Office spokesman said. Investigators are now working to return the stolen mail to victims in Hanover County and as far away as Maryland and North Carolina.
The suspects, all from North Carolina, were charged with multiple counts of petit larceny, grand larceny, and possession of stolen bank notes.
“I’m pleased that we are able to stop these crimes while they were in progress,” Sheriff Colonel David R. Hines said. “I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to the United States Postal Inspection Service for their assistance and cooperation during this investigation.”
Investigators asked anyone who believed they were a victim of mail theft to call the Sheriff’s Office at 804-365-6140.
