RICHMOND, Va. -- Police confirmed they are working a death investigation on Richmond’s North Side Saturday evening.

Officers were called to a duplex on the 4900 block of Chamberlayne Avenue a little before 4 p.m. after a body was discovered in a vacant apartment.

Multiple sources told WTVR CBS 6 News that the body found there is that of a child.

However, police have not confirmed if the child was found inside the home, saying that the medical examiner has yet to determine the age, race and gender of the body found as well as the cause and manner of death.

Detectives are asking anyone with any information on the case to either call Marshall Young at 804-317-6272 or Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
