HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- A customer was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after a man with a gun robbed a West End market. The gunman entered the store, along the 6700 block of Staples Mill Road near Glenside Drive, Wednesday night at about 7:14 p.m.
"The victims reported that a black male, armed with a silver handgun, entered the business and approached the register. The suspect struck a customer in line and pointed the firearm at the victim while demanding money," Henrico Police spokesman Lt. Chris Eley said. "The suspect then went behind the counter, removed currency, and exited the business on foot. The customer was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries."
There is a Shagis Quick Mart on that block, though police did not identify the business where the robbery occurred. Police described the gunman as between 5'7" and 5'9" tall.
"The suspect was wearing a dark gray hooded sweatshirt with neon strings on the hood, dark jeans, white shoes, black clothing covering the lower portion of his face, and armed with a handgun," police said.
Anyone with information was asked to call Henrico Police at 804-501-5000 or Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
