Cyclist transported to hospital after colliding with car during morning commute

RICHMOND, Va. – An early morning bike accident between a cyclist and a car left the cyclist injured.

The incident occurred just before 8 a.m., on East Broad Street at 17th Street.

Police said that early reports indicate a male bicyclist, traveling south, entered the westbound travel lane of East Broad Street and was struck by a Chevy Impala that was traveling westbound.

The bicyclist was transported to a local hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

No charges have been filed at this time.

One lane in each direction of East Broad Street near 17th Street was closed for a short time during the investigation.
