Family and friends hold vigil for teen shot and killed on Christmas Eve

RICHMOND, Va. -- Family and friends of a teenager, shot and killed on Christmas Eve, gathered in his honor for a vigil Wednesday afternoon at Mount Olive Baptist church in Richmond.

Trayquan Holmes was found unconscious in the 2000 block of North 29th Street in Richmond's Creighton Court neighborhood.

Family members tell CBS 6 Holmes graduated from Armstrong High School in June and had aspirations of joining the Air Force.

“Detectives are actively working all available leads in this case,” a Richmond Police spokeswoman said. Family members say they’ve heard the shooting was a result of a robbery, but that has not been confirmed by police.

Any donations toward Homes funeral service can be sent to Wilson's Funeral Home on 5008 Nine Mile Rd. in Richmond, VA 23223.

Holmes was one of three teenagers shot in the city within 10 days, two were killed.
