Fiery crash shuts down Willoughby Spit Bridge in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. — The eastbound lanes of I-64 at the Willoughby Spit Bridge are currently closed due to a multi-vehicle crash and vehicle fire, according to CBS 6 sister station, WTKR.

Multiple Norfolk Fire-Rescue units are currently on scene.

Rescue 1, Engine 9, Engine 13, Medic 11, Medic 12, Medic 13, EMS 1, Ladder 13, Engine 13, Engine 15, and Battalion 2 are all responding.

Engine 13 and Engine 9 are attacking the fire while Medic 13, Medic 12 and Medic 11 are assessing patients.

Firefighters have extinguished the fires, but are continuing to look for hot spots and provide medical attention to patients.

Foam is being deployed to control flammable liquids from the vehicle wrecks.
