LEAGUE CITY, Texas -- "It blew my mind!" That is what Jeremy Barron said when he saw children riding on top of a minivan while viewing Christmas lights in a Texas neighborhood.
"I can't believe someone just put their kids on the roof of a car and just drive thru the neighborhood like that, that's insane," Barron told KTRK.
The van had its hazard lights on, Barron said, and appeared to be traveling between 10 and 15 miles per hour. He said the children appeared to be between nine and 10 years old.
"There's no reason you need to be on top of your car, especially kids that young," Barron said.
There could be several laws broken here, police said, including child endangerment, deadly conduct, reckless driving and seat belt violations. The problem, police said, was there is no way to tell on that video who the adults are. Without more information, police said, it would be a tough case to pursue.
