JOHNSTON, Iowa — An Iowa couple was on their way to a family dinner on Thanksgiving, when they were pulled over by a police officer. This could have ruined their day, but this wasn’t an ordinary stop for Jeff Schulte.

Schutle and the Johnston Police officer that pulled him over, Matt Chiles, had met previously.

In July, as Schulte drove to meet his girlfriend’s parents for the first time, Chiles pulled him over for speeding.

Recently, Schutle decided to propose to his girlfriend and he knew exactly who to call. Together, Schulte and the Johnston Police Department created a plan for the engagement.

Police stopSchutle would be stopped in the same place as last time, but this time for a totally different reason.

Chiles recorded the whole thing on his body camera and dash board camera.

In the video, Chiles pulled the two over and told Schutle to get out of the car. Schutle got into position while Chiles told the girlfriend to get out the car to confirm that something wasn’t stolen.

When Schutles got down on one knee, his girlfriend finally realized what was happening. Watch her priceless reaction above.

The Johnston Police Department said, “We are proud to be part of such an important moment in this couple’s life together.”
