Family dog dies in West End house fire

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — Henrico Fire crews battled a house fire in the 9500 block of Broad Meadows Rd. in the West End Saturday.

Crews responded to the fire at 07:30 p.m. Units made it to the scene in five minutes and reported heavy fire coming from the two story house. Officials said the fire traveled up the side of the house and into the attic. The fire was marked under control at 08:03 p.m.

No one was home at the time of the fire. The family dog was rescued from the fire but died due to injuries sustained during the fire.

There were no other injuries reported due to the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
