RICHMOND, Va. -- A Richmond man reached out and gave Jake Burns a hug after Jake's random act of kindness made the man's day. This December, CBS 6 is celebrating a Month of Giving. All month long, members of the CBS 6 news team will be in the community, helping people through random acts of kindness. We hope the people we help will then be inspired to pay it forward.

Recently Jake saw a man about to pump gas at the Wawa on Brook Road and decided to fill the man's gas tank - for free.

"We're with CBS 6 News and we're doing a month of giving," Jake said as he approached the man. "We're going to buy your gas for you."

Jake asked that the man pay it forward when he is able to do so. The man, who described himself as a life-long Richmonder, told Jake he has been out of work and making money through odd jobs.

"I'm always giving," the man said. "I am when I ain't got money either."

The man thanked Jake and then brought him in for a hug when Jake extended his hand to the stranger.
