COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. – Hundreds of people showed up for a Thanksgiving tradition down in the Tri-cities.

The fourth annual Turkey Trot brought out just over thousand people, on an unseasonably warm day in Colonial Heights. Each year more and more people show up for the event.

There are two events; a one mile or 5k run/walk.

Roger Greene, former Director of the Colonial Heights Chamber started the event, hoping to connect the chamber with the school system and promote healthy living.

The money raised goes back into the schools, for scholarships and special school programs, said Rita Feasenmyer, President of Colonial Heights Chamber.

“Do you think we could tell these people no?!” Rita laughed when asked if they trot will take place next year.

People who showed up in costumes won a prize.
