AKRON, Ohio — A photo taken inside an Ohio animal shelter has gotten attention on social media, not because it features cute dogs, but rather because the shelter is empty. A recent adopt-a-thon at the Summit County Animal Control shelter resulted in every dog and cat finding a new home.
“People were coming from pretty far away and I asked them how they knew about the event. Of course it was social media,” shelter director Christian Fatheree told ABC News. “These animals can’t wait. They need homes. To know I was a part of this, it is such a good feeling.”
One couple, unable to adopt a pet for themselves, paid for the adoptions of the first 50 animals, ABC News reported.
