CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Two lanes have reopened on Interstate 95 north, near Route 288 in Chesterfield, following emergency overnight pothole repairs. The three-foot wide pothole first opened up Tuesday afternoon. All lanes of I-95 north were closed as a result.
"Upon further inspection, crews found that the pavement depression was due to a separated storm sewer pipe under the pavement. Crews have been working to make emergency repairs to the underground pipe and the pavement for drivers’ safety," a VDOT spokesperson said.
While traffic is once again moving in the area, drivers can avoid that section of I-95 by using I-295.
