Richmond, Va. — The month of October turned out cooler than normal. While the month had warm days, we also had some clusters of days well below normal. In fact, every Saturday and almost every Sunday had a high below normal.

- Extremes: 81° and 33°
- Average high: 68°
- Average low: 47°
There was rainfall on eleven days of the month, and a good portion of that fell within the first ten days. The period of October 11 through October 25 was fairly dry. Our heaviest rainfall was on October 2, when over one inch fell at Richmond International Airport. The monthly total of 3.24″ was about one-quarter inch above normal.
