NEW YORK — The FBI is investigating a possible threat of a “Halloween Revolt” by an anarchist group against police officers on Oct. 31.
According to the New York Post, the FBI is monitoring an extremist group, known as the National Liberation Militia.
The group has proposed a “Halloween Revolt” that encourages followers to dress in costume and cause disturbances to attract police so that they can then attack them, the Post reported.
NYPD officials told the Post they are monitoring the threat, but there is no specific threat to New York City.
In a statement to CBS News, the FBI said Tuesday:
“As part of the continuous dialogue with our law enforcement partners, the FBI routinely shares information about potential threats to better enable law enforcement to protect the communities they serve. We urge the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to law enforcement.”
