SHORT PUMP, Va. — Wegmans Food Markets is looking for hire more than 1,000 people to staff two new grocery stores. Both the Wegmans in Short Pump and in Midlothian are slated to open in 2016. While hiring for the Midlothian location is underway, the grocer announced Monday it had begun the hiring process for the first 200 full-time employees at the Short Pump location.

“It’s unique for us to open two stores within a short timeframe in a new market, which makes this the ideal time to apply,” Wegmans Human Resources Manager Heather Gole said. “With both stores now hiring for full-time positions, there are many opportunities and great potential for growth.”

The Midlothian store is scheduled to open in Spring 2016. The Short Pump store is scheduled to open later that summer. Full-time jobs include entry-level management, customer service, culinary, and restaurant service positions. Hiring for part-time positions will begin at a later date.

Anyone interested in applying can do so online or by calling 1-877-WEGMANS (934-6267).

“Applications are not accepted at the store or construction site, nor will interviews be conducted there,” a company spokesman said in a statement. “Wegmans will begin scheduling interviews for its Short Pump location in mid-November at an employment office in Glen Allen.”

The Wegmans Short Pump will be located at West Broad Marketplace, west of Short Pump Town Center near Route 288. Wegmans Midlothian will be located at Stonehenge Village, near the intersection of Walmart Way and Midlothian Turnpike.
