Men escape burning home in South Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. -- Four men escaped an early-morning house fire on McDonough Street in South Richmond Monday. The cause of the fire remained under investigation.

Richmond Fire crews were called to the 1200 block of McDonough, near Semmes Avenue, at about 2 a.m. When they arrived, firefighters said flames were shooting from the home. It took fire crews about 30 minutes to bring the fire under control.

The Red Cross was assisting the men who escaped the house fire by providing them with a temporary place to stay.
