RICHMOND, Va. -- A teenage driver was charged with reckless driving after his car landed in a backyard swimming pool Friday morning in Richmond. Police were called to the Northside home at the corner of Seminary Avenue and West Laburnum Avenue at about 7:10 a.m. Photos taken at the scene show a red car partially submerged in the pool.
The driver, 19-year-old Terrell R. Williams of Henrico, lost control of his car, crossed the Laburnum Avenue, hit a curb, drove through a hedge and fence and landed in the pool. He escaped the car with minor injuries, police said.
Neighbors said this was the second time in the last several years a car has ended up in that particular pool.
The car has since been removed from the pool and the property, police said. Anyone with additional information can submit a news tip here.
